Medicine is personal for Dr. Pannullo. His decision to become a physician and the way he practices medicine are defined by two guiding principles. Amongst his earliest memories is that of being a frightened little boy in hospital with a surgical condition. It’s a traumatic experience for a child. As a result, he is deeply conscious of the real concerns and fears of patients confronted by medical problems. Understanding the point of view of a patient is not “theory” for Dr. Pannullo. He has experienced those feelings himself and strives to have a one on one personal relationship with every patient.
The second principle that drives his pursuit of medicine is the simple desire to alleviate pain. Watching as his Mother experienced severe pain in her last days motivated him to specialize in Pain Management. It is through that specialty that he feels he can make a “real life” difference in alleviating the pain associated with so many illnesses and injuries.
If asked, he will tell you that the two most influential people in his life were his parents…, his mother as inspiration, and his father as the firm grounding that helped him to fulfill that inspiration. Those parents helped form both the man and the physician. In the end, Dr. Pannullo’s vision of medicine has always been about people and how he can help improve their quality of life.
Dr. Pannullo is married with 3 children. He is an avid sportsman and golfer with a passion for baseball. Much of his spare time is spent getting children to hockey practice and games.
