Medical Care That is Personalized for You.

Our practice is about YOU. We look for the best and most effective treatment for you. Comprehensive care begins with non-invasive and non-surgical treatments where ever possible. If you require surgery, our team includes top neurosurgeons who work closely with our non-surgical professionals. Unlike many practices, we don't base our treatment on the name of your condition..., we base it on YOU, your needs, and what is best for YOU. From diet, physical therapy to medications or state of the art brain surgery, DVBSS has your back. Explore our website to learn more about our practice and our approach to patient care.

Location Change

Effective Sept. 1 we are expanding our Sports Medicine Department into the New Brunswick office. As a part of expanding and improving the availability of Sports Medicine within the Delaware Valley area, Dr. Dhimant Balar will no longer be in the Iselin office as our New Brunswick office has the capacity to provide a much wider range of care.

Delaware Valley Brain, Spine & Sports Medicine

We're unique in our focus on bringing together two complementary physician teams focused on the connected areas of neurosurgery along with sports and pain medicine. Our care takes place in multiple locations throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

In practice this approach is ideal for patients. For example, only a small percentage of spinal problems require surgery. In most cases a patient can be effectively treated non-surgically. However, in some cases the ultimate solution will involve surgery. At Delaware Valley Brain, Spine & Sports Medicine you won't be referred off to some surgeon you've never met.

Our Using 21st Century treatment approaches, this allows us to smoothly transition patients from non-surgical to surgical care. Our doctors talk to each other and provide a unified approach to your care.  Learn More About Us.

How Do I Move?

The spine is the pathway that is followed by your nerves to guide the action of your muscles and organs. Your spine has evolved over the course of millions of years to create the upright stance of human beings. You are able to walk, run and throw because of the nerves that pass through your spinal column and then ultimately to your muscles. Conditions treated include radiculopathy, herniated discs and compression fractures.

How Do I Feel?

When you feel pain, it can make the simple activities of daily living unpleasant or even impossible. There are a variety of causes. For example Nociceptive pain might be felt in your muscles as a result of injury or inflammation being felt in your pain receptors. Neuropathic pain has no specific pain receptors involved. It may come from a pinched nerve, a slipped disc, or trapped nerve. Delaware Valley Brain, Spine and Sports Medicine has fellowship trained Interventional Specialists to help provide effective pain management including facet joint injections.

Why Am I Me?

In the end, your brain is the home of your experiences, your personality, and your decisions. Your thoughts and behavior come from the brain. Your brain also instructs the rest of the body about what it is supposed to do..., how your legs move, how to breathe, etc. Our neurosurgeons have advanced training in the treatment of cranial disease, pituitary tumors and brain injury.
